Professionally, Richard Liebowitz wears multiple hats. He is the President of Worldwide Media Capital, LLC, a media company, and the Founder of Anchorage Realty Group, both based out of New York. He also recently founded The CameraCares, a photography mentorship program that teams up individuals in underserved communities with professional photographers to coach them on the ins and outs of using the camera as well as the composition of photographs, including lighting and visual storytelling. Mentees in the program are provided with all necessary equipment – including cameras and lenses – to learn more about photojournalism. The program’s mission is to provide the community with a new way to see the world and actualize what can happen if you promote positive change.
As a photographer, Richard Liebowitz is rarely seen without a camera in his hand. He has decades of experience, including working as an intern under Bruce Cotler, a famous photographer based in New York. Richard wrote about his experience in his book Apprentice! Lessons Learned on the Frontlines of Life.
Recently, Richard Liebowitz expanded his experience in theatre, working as a Broadway Producer, producing David Mamet’s play, American Buffalo. In 2022, he brought together three big names – Laurence Fishburn, Sam Rockwell, and Darren Criss – on the stage at Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theater for the production in March 2022.
Alongside his career and experience, Richard Liebowitz is working with the Bowery Mission through the CameraCares Program to build a program teaching individuals the necessary skills to become successful freelance photographers. The Bowery Mission is a year-round soup kitchen and housing organization that provides New Yorkers experiencing hunger, food insecurity, and homelessness – among other crises – with clothing, food, and shelter. Richard is also an investor in the first-ever museum of all things Broadway, located in Times Square.
